Character Profile

Match on action is where the perspective of the camera changes during a scene but the scene continues to flow. For example when someone is moving through the door.

shot reverse shot

Shot reverse shot is usually where you have a shot with two people in it to establish what they are doing. The camera would then usually go on to show only one person so you can focus specifically on what they are saying and their facial expressions. The camera would then move onto the other person to show what they are doing and it would continue to switch between the two people.

180 degree rule

This is the 180 degree rule. The 180 degree rule suggests that once you start filming at one side of the line you cannot switch over to the other side of the line as the characters would switch positions. So if a character was on the left at the start of filming, and then the 180 degree line was crossed, the character that was once on the left of the screen would now be on the right of the screen. The 180 degree rule is usually used for when filming conversations.
